BELPER TOWN REVIEW OF THE SEASON 2023/24, NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE EAST SECTION
BELPER TOWN 2 DERBY COUNTY U-23s 1 PRE SEASON ULTIMATELY a season that started with much promise fell away towards the end as Belper Town (in sixth place) narrowly missed out on their goal of reaching the play-offs having set the pace for the early weeks of the NPL East Division campaign. A stark look at the statistics shows all eight games were lost against teams in the final top four placings with a goal difference of 6 for and 31 against so its fair to say we didn't quite have enough quality overall against the upper echelons of the division, which was also evident when we were well beaten at home by Leek Town, champions of the Western section in the FA Cup preliminary round. That said, we often put the lesser teams to the sword, with seven wins out of eight games against the bottom four teams with 23 goals for and 7 against (the one loss being the gale-affected home game with Brighouse Town where we didn't adapt at all well to conditions).
